United receives Business Traveller Asia-Pacific travel award as its services expand in the region
Hong Kong, September 14, 2005 – Discerning frequent travelers in Asia have voted United Airlines the "Best North American Airline" for the fifth consecutive year in Business Traveller Asia-Pacific's 2005 annual travel awards. Each year, the magazine polls frequent travelers to learn their opinions on airlines and services. Results are verified and compiled by an independent market research company - TNS-Hong Kong.
Mark Russell, United Airlines' managing director for the Pacific South region said, "It is an honor to be recognized for the past five years as the 'Best North American Airline' by Business Traveller Asia-Pacific's travel-savvy readers."
"With more than 210 services between the Asia-Pacific region and the U.S. each week, United is committed to providing customers with the best possible service, route network and mileage program. In the past year, we have started services from Ho Chi Minh City and Nagoya as well as increased the number of flights to the U.S. from Greater China, Japan and Australia."
As one of the world's leading airlines, United is devoted to providing its customers with a high-quality travel product. On its Asia-Pacific routes, United offers five more inches of legroom in United Economy Plus.
United has significantly expanded its service in the region by around 20% and launched new services to North America from Ho Chi Minh City in December 2004 and Nagoya in March 2005.
United operates the most flights between Asia-Pacific and the U.S. and serves 13 Asia-Pacific cities including Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Melbourne, Nagoya, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Tokyo. Through the Star Alliance network, United customers also have access to virtually any destinations in the region.
Advance Passenger Information for Travel to the US is Now Required
Effective October 4, 2005, U.S. legislation will require foreign nationals to provide to air carriers a valid U.S. address during their stay "before" the departure of their U.S. bound flight. U.S. citizens and U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident cardholders are exempt from this requirement.
News on Transit Without Visa Program
As you may be aware, on Saturday August 2nd, the United States Government notified all airlines of the suspension of its US Transit Without Visa (TWOV) and International to International (ITI) programs due to national security concerns.
These programs allowed customers to transit though the United States without a nonimmigrant visa while enroute from one foreign country to a second foreign country with one or more stops in the United States. The suspension of this program took effect on August 2, 2003 at 11:00am - Eastern Time - USA (4:00pm GMT).
We encourage all affected customers to obtain a U.S. Visa for their travel.
